Femtosecond Laser Ablation of Sapphire
INSTRUCTION Sapphire is widely used in the field of optical components and micromechanical devices owing to its useful mechanical, optical, and electrical properties. However, sapphire is mechanically and chemically difficult to machine because of its high hardness and chemical stability. The difficulty of machining sapphire has restricted the development of advanced device structures. As sapph...
متن کاملFemtosecond laser near field ablation
The hi gh fi eld strength of fe mtosecond laser pulses leads to non I incar effects during the interacti on with condensed matter. One such e ffect is the ab latio n process, which can be initiated he low the threshold of common thermal ahlation if the excitation pul ses are suffic iently short . This effec t leads to structure formation, which is an isotropic because of the polari zation prope...
متن کاملStudy of laser ablation using nano-second laser pulses
In this paper, the laser ablation process based on the irradiation of nanosecond pulsed lasers on a copper target surface in the presence of Helium gas is studied. The dynamical behaviors of the generated plasma in the helium gas and evaporated copper at the atmospheric pressure are examined using a laser pulse, laser wavelength of and intensity of 7×1010W/cm2. A one-dimensional thermal model ...
متن کاملInfluence of laser parameters and staining on femtosecond laser-based intracellular nanosurgery
Femtosecond (fs) laser-based intracellular nanosurgery has become an important tool in cell biology, albeit the mechanisms in the so-called low-density plasma regime are largely unknown. Previous calculations of free-electron densities for intracellular surgery used water as a model substance for biological media and neglected the presence of dye and biomolecules. In addition, it is still uncle...
متن کاملFemtosecond Laser Processing of Nitinol
The effects of femtosecond laser machining on surface characteristics and subsurface microstructure of a Nitinol alloy were studied. The femtosecond laser machining produced an average surface roughness of 0.2 μm. A re-deposited layer of 7 μm and a hardened layer of 70 μm were also resulted from the machining.
